STAFF and students at Kingsmead School in Wiveliscombe have been celebrating the results of a horticultural project carried out during the academic year.
The project included developing facilities and then growing a range of vegetables in a polytunnel.
Plant propagation was completed in a classroom with a large window, seedlings carefully nurtured and planted out by our students using organic gardening techniques.
The egetables grown were used by the Kingsmead Catering GCSE option classes to produce a range of dishes including delicious courgette cakes.
Head of Applied Learning, Charlie Pierce, said: “We now have a range of ripening vegetables which the students are very proud of.
“It’s an excellent opportunity to discuss food miles, organic techniques and gain an awareness of where our food comes from.”
