THE police have issued a description of a man they want to speak to after a woman’s handbag was snatched as she pushed her child in a pram through a park.

The incident occurred as she was heading towards the Tesco store from Henson Park through Stringfellow Park in Chard.

Next to the garages near Stringfellow Park she noticed a male following her, and when halfway across the park he grabbed the black bag from the pram handles and ran off towards Tesco.

A total of £105 was stolen with cash cards in the victim’s name.

The thief is described as tanned, 18 years old, 5ft 4ins tall, slim with short dark hair and blond streaks. He wore a green coat and black trousers.

The robbery took place on Sunday, February 8, at 10.30am, and the victim spotted him again in Furnham Road on Monday and chased after him, but he got away.

This time he was wearing blue jeans and a black hoody, and carried a laundry bag.

The police said there have been no similar attacks in Chard and urge anyone with information to call PC David Jeeves on 101, quoting crime number 13639/15
