CHILDREN came from far and wide to “make memories” at Barrington Court last week.

Barrington Clay, based in the grounds of the historic home, put on an activity day of clay-making during half-term.

The village family firm welcomed 47 children from as far away as Bristol to let their imaginations run wild during the Play With Clay event.

Marion Lewis, from Barrington Clay, said: “We had an exceptionally good turnout from this event and I don’t think there are many children who don’t enjoy it.

“We have a lot of children come back time and time again, which is great. We give them a piece of air-drying clay and tell them they can make whatever they want, just let their imagination run wild.

“Obviously at the moment things like Olaf from Disney’s Frozen are popular but we had Viking helmets, elephants, dogs – anything really. It’s all about not being structured and letting them create what they want – and they get a sense of achievement seeing the finished article.

“We say they are making memories here and what a fantastic venue to do it.

We are very lucky to be based in the old farm buildings at Barrington Court.”
