CHARD School turned into something out of a picture book when pupils enjoyed a French day.

Everyone enjoyed a French breakfast of croissants, pain au chocolat, brioches, pain aux raisin, baguettes, pâté, French cheese, orange juice and hot chocolate.

A carousel of activities then took place throughout the day including traditional boules games and a treasure hunt.

The pupil’s worse red white and blue or French outfits and money raised went to Children in Need.

Prizes were awarded for the best outfits, winners of the treasure hunt, a colouring competition and boules.

Teacher Kate Clayton said: “The French day was enjoyed by all of the children from Reception to Year 6.

“There was a wonderful atmosphere in the school and the children had lots of fun taking part in the activities and speaking in French, which they all learn in their timetabled French lessons.

“Thank you to Miller’s Farm Shop, Axminster, for donating French sweets and lollies for the day.”
