STUDENTS from Holyrood Academy took part in the Rotary Club of Chard’s Youth Speaks competition.
Three intermediate teams and three senior teams entered the event.
The winning intermediate team, made up of Lorelei Webber, Ruby Nex and Rachael Davis, debated sexism in schools.
The winning senior team, consisting of Addison Coath, Katrina Gunn-Lane and Sarah McCullough, debated younger siblings.
The judges were Rotary club president Eric Beckley, Peggy Hannam and school librarian Jane Edge.
The co-ordinator was Puck Webber, head of English at the school.
The winning teams go forward to the next district round and the Rotary club wishes them well.
