RETIRED people in Chard and Ilminster looking for occasional work can now get help from a new online service to advertise their skills and availability.

RetiredButAble.com has been set up by Crispin Thomas from Somerset.

It gives retired people the chance to find out about work and local employers the opportunity to find part-time workers in their area.

People can log their skills on the site, free for 30 days, and then pay £2 a month to offer themselves for local, occasional work.

The site is free for employers to browse.

Mr Thomas said: “There are thousands of retired people who still have a lot to offer and want to get out of the house and do some part-time work.

“It’s not necessarily about money – for many people it’s also about a feeling of worth.”

The site is secure and only works through email, keeping contact details discreet until both parties decide to talk to each other.

Once contact is made, RetiredButAble.com says it has no involvement with the work arrangements made between the parties.
