DURING the summer holidays, Neroche Primary School children were given a challenge to read over 250 books at Ilminster Library.

Ilminster’s Library Service visited the school in July and met parents and children to make the community aware of the reading opportunities at the library and the Summer Challenge.

Fifty children from the school took part in the challenge and between them read over 250 books.

Ilminster Library has now presented the children with a certificate and a medal each for taking part in the challenge.

Head teacher Connel Boyle said: “I really wanted to thank Lynne and her team at our local library for helping us further develop a love of reading in our pupils.

“Nearly half our pupils took part in the challenge which was a tremendous response from our parents and children in support of reading.

“Our teachers have noted that our children, who took part in the challenge, came back from their summer break really switched on to reading.

“My thanks to all who took part.”
