A WEATHER warning for heavy rain and thundery downpours remains in place until this evening (August 26).
A band of wet weather is making its way across the South-West this afternoon and will be followed by the development of some slow moving thundery downpours.
The Met Office say people should be aware of the risk of localised surface water flooding and standing water/spray on roads.
A chief weather forecaster for the Met Office said: "Heavy rain across the south and southeast of England could produce 15-25 mm of rain within a few hours, but this will clear eastwards by early afternoon.
"As temperatures rise, so some heavy showers and isolated thunderstorms are expected to develop, these most likely in counties bordering the English Channel this afternoon.
"Localised slow moving torrential downpours are possible with a risk of 20-40 mm of rain falling within two to three hours."
