YOUNG Bridgwater cricketers Chris Skidmore and Robbie Montgomery have been rewarded for their impressive form in league cricket with an extended trial at Gloucestershire.
Skidmore, 23, and Montgomery, 19, have featured in the county's second XI on numerous occasions over the past few weeks and both played a big part in a county championship victory over Northamptonshire.
Montgomery, an all-rounder, smashed a stunning 106 from just 72 balls as Gloucestershire second XI secured a one-wicket victory - while Skidmore returned match figures of 4-85.
Gloucestershire Academy Director Owen Dawkins said: “Both players have performed well so far in the Second XI and their work rate and desire to improve day on day has been excellent.
“We feel that both players deserve an extended opportunity and this will provide good competition for places.”
