A 24-YEAR-OLD man will appear in court tomorrow (July 2) in connection to a fire at St Bartholomew’s Church in Crewkerne.
The fire broke out at around 2.30pm on Monday but was swiftly put out by PCSO’s Gareth Allington and Dave Lewis who were nearby at the time.
When fire crews arrived the fire at the church, in Abbey Street, was out but firefighters used hand tools to cut away an area of the pews to make the area safe.
A man, who police say is from the Crewkerne area, was charged with multiple counts of arson and will appear at Yeovil Magistrates tomorrow.
