AN ILMINSTER air cadet has had the chance to fly with the RAF on an experience flight in a Hawk jet, the same aircraft Red Arrows use.
Corporal James Cullum visited the RAF Valley in north Wales along with 40 other air cadets for a weekend residential cadet camp over the Easter break.
He was awarded the flight after being named best cadet on the camp as a result of his hard work and positive attitude.
During the 40-minute flight, he experienced aerobatics and touch and go landings. He even took the aircraft’s controls.
James said: “I feel privileged to have been able to fly with the RAF.
This experience will stay with me for a long time and no rollercoaster will ever match up to the thrill of flying in a Hawk.”
