THREE motorcycle cameras are being introduced as part of a drive to improve road safety.

More than 66,000 people across the region are caught speeding every year.

The cameras are part of a nine-point Police and Crime Plan for localised policing across the region.

It also includes issues including burglary, anti-social behaviour, domestic and sexual violence and strengthening victims’ rights.

Avon and Somerset Police and Crime Commissioner Sue Mountstevens, said: “It is only right these plans for local policing tackle the issues that most affect residents.

“Road safety is something that is continually raised with me and it will now be reflected in all nine local plans.”

She added: “The new plans for 2014/15 are even more local, with a tailored plan for each local authority area.

“It is really important to me that residents have a good sense of what the police are doing in their area and how they are going to make our communities even safer.”

A police and crime plan is now available for South Somerset, Taunton Deane, West Somerset, Sedgemoor and Mendip.
