MORE than 100 people abseiled down St Mary’s Church in Chard at the weekend to help raise funds to repair its roof.

Among the brave souls taking part were Chard Mayor Jenny Kenton and the Vicar of St Mary’s Church, Rev Sue Tucker.

More than £3,000 was raised and organisers thanked Andy Sparrow, of Cave Climb in Cheddar, who ran the abseil.
