STARGAZERS from Redstart Primary School, Chard, explored the night skies as part of an exciting evening of activities.
The children listened to a modern retelling of an ancient constellation tale, made colourful space art and enjoyed hot chocolate and marshmallows around the camp fire with parents, staff and volunteers.
Crewkerne and District Astronomical Society supported the event and brought along its telescopes for the children and parents to look through.
Some children spotted the Orion Nebula and Jupiter’s moons and stripes.
Head teacher Suzanne Flack said: “We are so grateful to our members of staff who stayed to make the event such a success. The beautiful clear skies helped, too.”
