AFTER a number of years in the making, Freda Cave has finally applied the last stitches to her beautiful hand-made quilt.
Several unpatterned patches have been lovingly hand-embroidered with a unique motif, and all the differently shaped patches have been sewn together using a wide variety of stitches.
The quilt is destined for a greatgranddaughter, but it will be given into the care of Freda’s daughter, who has already prepared a place for it to hang in her cottage.
Freda, who lives at Vaughan Lee House residential home in Ilminster, said: “This project has been going on – and off – for a long time. I’ve enjoyed working with so many colours and textures.
“I hope that it will give more people much pleasure in the years to come.”
