THE Belfry at Yarcombe has won the Sustainable Restaurant Association’s Best Food Waste Strategy award.
Celebrity chef and association president Raymond Blanc presented the accolade at Roast restaurant at Borough Market in London.
The award recognises The Belfry’s efforts to waste as little as possible by storing food properly, using good kitchen skills and recycling unavoidable food waste.
The restaurant also plans to introduce a wormery to dispose of vegetable peelings and asks customers to order 24 hours in advance so staff can shop daily.
