WALKERS who enjoy the many footpaths around South Petherton should see the network well looked after with the appointment of a parish paths liaison officer.
Cllr Ian Greenfield was voted into the role by fellow parish councillors and will volunteer his time to ensure the footpaths are easily usable by everyone from within and outside of the parish.
Ian, who started the successful South Petherton Walking Group and associated website, also organises special walks for people with mobility issues and buggy walks for families.
Parish council chairman Adam Dance said: “I am confident Ian will be a fantastic liaison officer – his experience and tremendous ability to communicate with walkers and landowners is second to none.”
