ILMINSTER had plenty to shout about after Andrew Fox was officially declared new town crier.

The town had been without a town crier since Jim Olds died in 2010 aged 83.

Andrew was formally initiated into the Ancient and Honourable Guild of Town Criers by Yeovil's town crier, Bruce Trigger.

The ceremony took place at the Market Square in Ilminster and Mayor, Cllr Roger Swann, presented Andrew with his town crier's bell.

Andrew has been in the Police force, Fire Service and was head of security at Eton College.

His vocal skills were polished as a reservist on the parade ground at HMS Excellent.
