Dementia project needs cash
1:00pm Saturday 28th September 2013 in News
A CHARITY working to make towns in South Somerset dementia friendly is seeking funding to expand its tried and tested schools project.
Reminiscence Learning created The Archie Project, which aims to educate children through the charity’s mascot, Archie, the brightly coloured scarecrow, and workbooks which tell his story.
Teachers in 24 schools across Somerset including in Chard, Ilminster and Crewkerne are running sessions which include singing, reading and acting, as well as visits to local care homes.
All these projects are up and running thanks to grants, including one from Prime Minister David Cameron’s dementia champion group.
