THERE was a packed house at the Shrubbery Hotel in Ilminster when it hosted a literary lunch.

The lunch was organised by Ilminster Rotary Club to raise funds for the continued support of the Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance.

More than 70 people were present at the event, which was co-ordinated by Rotarians Brenda Lake and Peter Smith with local author James Crowden the guest speaker.

The latest of James’ many books is entitled Literary Somerset and continues his well-worn path exploring the wide range of international literary connections with the county, some dating as far back as Anglo-Saxon times.
