Funding boost for young people

YOUNG people in Crewkerne will be the next to benefit after Somerset County Council awarded more than £110,000 in the second round of Community Enablement grants.
The town’s county councillor, John Dyke, brought forward a successful application for an award of £50,000 to Crewkerne Town Council.
The town council will use the money to develop facilities at the John Reynolds Centre to accommodate an activity group that will help young people in Crewkerne and the surrounding villages live healthy lifestyles.
Cllr Dyke said: “I was enormously pleased that the application I submitted on behalf of Crewkerne Town Council resulted in an award of £50,000.
“The town council has always placed great store in a vibrant Youth Service and has just opened a new|multi-purpose building to provide modern, health-giving facilities for the young people of the town and surrounding villages. “The town council has also set aside substantial funding of its own to run a sustainable Youth Service and I believe that these two factors led the county council to award the maximum amount possible under the Community Enablement Fund.”
