Art workshops proving a hit
8:00am Sunday 10th March 2013 in News
A NEW series of artist-led workshops at Ilminster Arts Centre offers a great introduction to art.
And Stephen Yates starts a new term of acrylic painting in April.
After spending his early life in Yorkshire, Stephen has lived in West Dorset for more than 25 years.
He said he has ‘never ceased to be amazed’ by the beauty of this part of the country.
“This love of seeing the landscape has been with me ever since my early days growing up in Yorkshire,” he said.
“My travels have taken me around the world and I still try to capture elements of the landscape wherever I am.”
He added: “The arts centre is a great place to teach classes. I love the way there is open access and people can wander freely through this beautiful building.
“Last week I watched a three-year-old come through and pick up a wet paintbrush – I loved the spontaneity.”
Among his arts centre students is Richard Tofts, 80.
