Looking to sort parking problems

GOVERNORS at Greenfylde First School in Ilminster are looking to see what can be done to alleviate car parking problems around the school at the start and end of each day.

Head teacher John Jeffery said he received ‘from time to time’ complaints from neighbours about bad parking by parents when dropping off and picking up children from school.

“The governors recently discussed this at length and are looking to see what they may do to help the situation,” he said. “In the meantime, however, please be considerate of others and, most importantly, think about the safety of children and pedestrians.”

Two easy things. The parents who live in Ilminster need to walk to school, not drive. The council need to enforce the single yellow lines in Wharf lane, no one should park there between 8am and 6pm. Some workers in town park there all day every without getting a ticket.

Followed parent today, pulled out of Wharf Lane and then turned into Lower Meadow, must be all of 1/4 mile. No wonder so many of todays children are overweight and/ or unfit. Have to say when I was on car park enforcement duties in the home counties, any mummies who wanted to wait for their children in a pay and display car park were given the choice of a 40p ticket, or a £40 fine!.
