Investigations go on into bogus policeman

INVESTIGATIONS are continuing this week into reports that someone has been posing as a policeman and stopping cars in the Ilminster area.

It is understood that there have been a couple of incidents in which people were stopped by a man wearing a high-vis jacket in a dark BMW estate with flashing blue lights in the grill at the front of the car.

He was not wearing a police uniform and when asked for identification he returned to his vehicle and drove off.

A police spokesman said: “Members of the public should ask for ID if they are suspicious – all police officers carry it.

“We would advise people to report any concerns by calling 101 or, if it is an emergency to 999, rather than make comments on our Facebook page.”
