Long-running Chard physiotherapist retires

A WINSHAM physiotherapist has retired after working at Chard Hospital for almost 20 years.

Felicity Smith, 69, trained at The London Hospital, Whitechapel, from 1957 until 1960 and qualified as a physiotherapist MCSP.

She worked at The London Hospital for a further three years and then moved to The Westminster Hospital, before taking a short career break to travel around the world with her father.

In 1965 she married her husband Bob and moved to Dorchester to work at The Dorset County Hospital until the arrival of the first child.

Felicity and Bob moved to Winsham in 1971 and she returned to her physiotherapy work at Axminster Hospital in 1983.

The mother of five started working at Chard Hospital in 1991 and celebrated her retirement in April with a party at The Windwhistle Inn, attended by thirty of her colleagues.

Felicity said she is looking forward to her well-deserved retirement, when she will be spending more time with Bob, her children and nine grandchildren.
