Chard 1st XI in cup action

CHARD 1st XI played Taunton St Andrews in the Cockspurr Cup on Sunday.

Taunton play in Premier One, and were obviously going to be a very stern test for Chard. Chard found it hard to take wickets throughout the innings with Kevin Parsons and Brian Hayle making centuries. Andy Cleal (1-46) and Emlyn Kuhn (1-28) were Chard's wicket takers, and Taunton ended on a mammoth 310-2.

In reply, Chard got off to a flying start with Rob Glentworth (80) and John Scott (15) putting on 77 for the first wicket. Glentworth continued to bat well and put on 70 with Kuhn (70 not out), before Nick Crew came in and hit an bullish 30 as Chard ended on 236-4.

A very good effort against a formidable attack.
