A NEW beginners’ salsa dance course is launching in Chard.
Salsa Cascara is inviting dancers to learn moves with them at Hornsbury Mill in a new course starting on Tuesday, November 8, from 7.15pm.
United Kingdom Alliance qualified salsa teachers Mal Cox and Bev Stiling take the classes, which started in Chard in January.
The sessions are relaxed – there is no formal dress code – and participants range in age from 18 to 68.
The six-week programme for beginners includes a taster session for just £5.
Mal said: “It is a structured course – and we hone one move each week. It is good we have such a diverse age range because we get different walks of life socialising here who wouldn’t normally meet.”
Health benefits include|co-ordination, balance and posture. Social interaction is another plus, as dance partners rotate, and there is an opportunity for further networking with salsa weekender events and trips abroad.
Bev added: “A big part of our classes is the social aspect – and people love the venue here – it is a bit like a safe nightclub, just with a dance lesson combined!”
People who attended the most recent course came not just from Chard and Ilminster but from Taunton, Honiton and further afield.
