BROOKE Shields and Martin Hewitt’s iconic original is remade afresh under the direction of Shana Feste in this new release, out at Taunton’s ODEON cinema.
In the modern-day version, teenager Jade Butterfield (Gabriella Wilde) enjoys a privileged life thanks to her parents, Hugh (Bruce Greenwood) and Ann (Joely Richardson).
Her protective father is determined to keep her away from any rogue elements which he feels could corrupt her or lead her astray from her chosen profession as a doctor.
But then the inevitable happens. During a visit to the local country club Jade falls under the spell of reformed bad boy David Elliot (Alex Pettyfer), who is one of the valets.
they fall in love, embarking on a turbulent journey of sexual discovery together, which inspires Ann to seek more excitement in her stagnant marriage.
Hugh strongly disapproves of David, and once he learns of the young man’s past mistakes the father vows to protect his child using every means necessary
