IT’S Snow White, but not as you know it!

The classic fairytale gets the Chard Amateur Theatre Society Treatment next week when it opens at the town’s Guildhall for its seasonal show run.

A cast of 40 are gearing up to present their vibrant, musically-rich version of the well-known story.

Bill Case, CATS president, chair, and musical director, told the News: “It’s coming together very well. Our youngsters – our kittens, as it were – appear to be thoroughly enjoying themselves.

“There’s a lot of behind-the-scenes work going on, with sorting the props and the scenery in time for us to move into the Guildhall.

“It’s been hard work, but it’s very rewarding.”

The 71 year-old added: “Those who come along won’t see Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, however.

“Instead, we’ve got gnomes, who are played by our youngsters.”

Performances of Snow White are 7.30pm from Thursday January 30 until Saturday February 1, with a matinee on final day at 2.30pm.

Tickets cost £8 for stalls, £8.50 for the balcony, and £9 for tiers, with £6.50 concessions available for seats in the stalls.
