A DOUBLE dose of top class classical music is coming to South Somerset this Sunday, October 27, in the form of concert pianist Michael Dussek and violinist Leos Cepicky.
An exceptional pianist, Dussek has performed at venues the world over, from New York’s Carnegie Hall and Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw to Tokyo’s Suntory Hall and London’s Royal Albert Hall.
He is also a fellow of the London Royal Academy of Music, where he is a senior tutor in ensemble piano.
Having taken up the violin at the tender age of six, Cepicky is now the in-demand professor of violin at the Prague Academy of Performing Arts.
In the first of the concerts, Dussek and Cepicky will perform together at 2.30pm with a programme of Beethoven’s Spring Sonata, Bach’s Sonata No.1 in G-minor, Ysaye’s Sonata Ballada No.3 opus 27, the Brahms Sonata in A-major opus 100 and Ravel’s La Tzigane.
Leos’ solo performance, ‘Bach the Magnificent’, follows at 6pm.
Tickets cost £15 for Dussek and Cepicky’s afternoon performance, £10 for Cepicky’s solo show or £30 for the two, including tea.
