Wurzels fundraiser for heroic M5 doctors at Somerset County Cricket Ground
9:00am Monday 30th September 2013 in What's On
THE Wurzels will headline a charity concert in November to support and celebrate the crucial work of heroic doctors who assisted at the 2011 M5 crash tragedy just outside Taunton.
Somerset Accident Voluntary Emergency Service (SAVES) is hosting a grand dinner and charity auction at Somerset County Cricket Ground in Taunton on Friday, November 1.
With just a few doctors in their service providing assistance to seriously ill patients across the county, SAVES supported emergency services responding to the M5 tragedy in which seven people were killed and 51 casualties treated.
The concert will be held around the two-year anniversary of the catastrophe.
Last year, a SAVES doctor won the BBC 999 hero award for his work amputating part of an arm 20ft up a gantry near Taunton.
SAVES doctors receive no funding, so the charity concert’s fundraising will be integral to the service’s ability to buy and replace equipment, and train new doctors.
Tickets at £45 are available from www.saves.org.uk or Jackie Collings on 07886-630388.
