Baroque concert at Dillington
5:00pm Thursday 7th March 2013 in What's On
COLIN Booth and Steven Devine return to Dillington House on Sunday for their annual Baroque concert with harpsichords.
To add further colour this year, soprano Kate Semmens will join them on stage for this mini Handel fest.
The programme opens with the Concerto Grosso opus 3 No.2 arranged for two harpsichords, allegedly inspired by Handel’s encounter with the music of Corelli in Rome around 1706.
The second work is the short Cantata for soprano and basso continuo entitled Manca pur quanto sai, followed by the Suite in A major HWV 426 played by Colin alone.
The second half includes the Suite in E major, The Harmonious Blacksmith of 1720, and the secular motet Silete Venti for two harpsichords and soprano.
Colin combines a career as a harpsichord-maker and player, and Steven is exceptionally busy as a keyboard player and conductor in this country and abroad.
Kate is a soloist with many leading ensembles and Baroque opera companies and has toured with the Monteverdi Choir and the Gabrielli Consort.
The concert starts at 2.30pm and tickets priced £13 are available from the bookings office 01460-258613.
