New Year party night for teens
11:00am Tuesday 25th December 2012 in What's On
THE Club Zero project has a Snow ‘n’ Glo party planned to bring in the New Year for young people aged between 14 and 17.
The party is at Club Neo in Stars Lane, Yeovil, on Wednesday, January 2, from 7pm to 11pm. Entry is £5 on the door.
To get young clubbers into the party mood there will be UV face painting and a snow machine plus music with resident DJ Clifty with his mix of urban favourites, Funky House and Ibiza-style dance anthems.
Zero has been successfully running under-18 events in Yeovil during school holidays for the past four years and has the support of the police, district and county councils, parents and other agencies.
Zero supporter Cllr Ian Martin, a former chairman of South Somerset District Council, said: “The Zero night at Club Neo really is the coolest place for young people to be for New Year. Be safe, enjoy, have fun!” The aim of the project is to reduce anti-social and binge drinking by providing a safe, alcohol-free environment where young people can enjoy a good night of music and dance.
Random breath testing and bag searches are carried out on entry.
Parents and guardians are expected to ensure their children have a safe route home and those leaving early are challenged with parental consent being sought for them to leave the premises.
The Zero team endeavours to ensure a safe passage to the nearby Stars Lane car park at the end of the evening.
Street Pastors are also on hand to help ensure club-goers reach their lifts and homes safely.
A Valentine’s party is planned for Wednesday, February 13, also at Club Neo.
Profits made by the Zero team are available to be awarded as small grants to other groups which want to carry out projects within the aims and criteria of Zero.
