VION UK in Wiveliscombe is offering a new apprenticeship.

The firm has launched pork processing apprenticeships within the food industry.

The initiative offers rates of pay above the apprenticeship average at £6 per hour starting pay, with an opportunity to increase your pay through training and development.

Apprentices would be joining an experienced workforce at VION UK – the senior management team has an average of 30 years of experience in the bacon industry, delivering excellent customer service.

The apprenticeship takes about nine to 12 months to complete and assessor support is given to apprentices. Participants are given individual workbooks to assist with the programme.

The training is provided by Telford College, with additional support from VION UK in Wiveliscombe and Prime Time Recruitment.

David Wheeler, of Telford College, has more than 12 years of experience in the meat industry form slaughter to despatch. Working as a butcher David went on to deliver training to others using his hands-on knowledge.

He works on site at VION UK in Wiveliscombe delivering training within all aspects of the butchery trade.

He is now an experienced assessor within the company and food industry.
