Dairy Cattle (97): Greenslade Taylor Hunt report an increased entry which included a large number of cows generated a continued strong milk trade for both qualities. A second lactation calved cow topped the day at £1860 from Messrs MC Powell & Son and a superb entry of 3rd calvers from Messrs R Puddy & Son sold to £1800, £1700 and £1600. A smart home bred calved heifer from Messrs FG Summerhayes & Son sold to £1750. Commercial heifers to £1720 from East Avercombe Farm Ltd of South Molton and Messrs MC Powell & Son. Strong crossbred heifers were in demand and sold to £1600 and £1580 from Mr AP Ractliffe.

A large entry of incalf heifers sold to £1460 to the AA from Messrs MW & BM Cox & Son. Others to £1390 and £1290 for commercial heifers 7½ months incalf to Limousin from Mr A Neill, Dorchester. A consignment of 16 due October to AA topped at £1240 from Messrs BW & J Gray of Bristol.

Busk Calves & Stirks (272): Greenslade Taylor Hunt report a similar size entry to last week was met with strong competition for all on offer once again. Heifers were a touch easier if anything and quality was lacking. Top price of £980 for an 11m old Blue steer from Messrs RJ & PJ Northover, which was closely followed by Messrs J & S Creed & Doyle with a 10m Limousin steer to £905 when others in the same run sold to £880, £860 and £840 a superb entry. Another notable entry from Ham Farm Partners saw a bunch of 3 Charolais steers (7-8m) to £875. Angus steers from Mr ER Rosewell saw prices of £830 (10m) £795 x3 and £782 x2.

Heifers peaked at £755 for a 12m Limousin from Messrs TA Dowden & Son. Charolais to £710 x3 (8m) again from Ham Farm Partners. Blues to £705 from Messrs RJ & PJ Northover when others sold to £695. Simmentals from Messrs RE Fewings & Son to £675.
