MANOR Court Primary School in Chard has become one of the first schools in the area to achieve Dyslexia Friendly Status.
The award acknowledges the school's achievements in teaching, learning, monitoring, assessment, differentiation and inclusion for all students.
Pupils at the school attended a special assembly today (Tuesday) where Clive Danks, head of services at Somerset County Council, and Doreen Grant, team leader for specific learning difficulties, presented them with the award.
The school has been working toward Dyslexia Friendly Status for about two years.
Head teacher David Flowers said: "This is a great achievement and we are delighted with the award.
"It is a hard status to achieve, something that takes a lot of time and commitment.
"Our thanks go to Michelle Davis, who led the project for two years, although she can't be here today as she is away on maternity leave."
The school will hold the status for three years when it will be reassessed to check that standards are being maintained.
