In the absence of the leader, Rosemary Parsons due to indisposition, the annual 'Carols by Candlelight' held in the beautifully decorated Village hall was introduced by Gwen Presland, who welcomed members, husbands and friends to this popular event. All enjoyed singing traditional carols accompanied on the piano by Cynthia White and Eileen Tratt, listening to music supplied by Serenade Singers from Ilminster and The Kingstone Elastic Band, a most enthusiastic group of youngsters who played various instruments. Refreshments were supplied and served by the Tuesday Group members, Ruth Summers made the lovely table decorations and poems were read by Christine Brenton and Rev. Chris Saralis. The raffle, organised by Pat Clapham and George Presland, in support of S.U.R.E. at Musgrove Hospital, was well supported. Gwen Presland read the Christmas prayer and the Blessing was given by Rev. Chris Saralis (who also did his usual stint of dish-washing afterwards!) Thanks were expressed to all who contributed in any way, especially with the serving and clearing-up. read more
