In common with the other writers, news of Rodney's passing was a bolt from the blue that left me shocked and saddened. My condolences to his family. Rest in peace my friend and know that you are missed

Sleep well my friend. Condolences to your family, you will be missed by many.
Always a thoroughly decent guy, wonderfully eccentric, great fun, a real pal, and someone who genuinely cared about making our country a better place.
In life you gave so much to the cause, to our nation, and brought a little light to all of us who had the good fortune to know you.
Sleep well brother, many will miss you, but more importantly many will rememeber you and the great efforts you put in for our country.and kin.
Rest well, you've earned the break. See you one day for some jarred veges and elderflower wine mate.

I am really saddened by the news of Rodney/Bertie passing. My deepest condolences to all the people who loved him and especially to his family. He and his efforts will never be forgotten, nor would the thinking about him ever be without celebrating the good memories with a smile and due respect.

May the moment of your presence in the Being be an eternal euphoria, Bertie. You were one of a kind in your willfulness, authenticity and humour... and on top of all that, I loved your accent!

Swoon and ooh arr ...

I will miss you

So sad to hear of Rod's passing...I knew him from the days of the News Debate Room at AOL must be around 15 years ago, long before he became such a fighting patriot as he did later on. We did have a lot of fun though and that is how I will remember him. Sleep well Rod, me and Tab will miss you xx

I am so sad to hear of Rodney's passing. I've known him via the social network since 2009; he had an excellent voice and was a great character, adding so much to our group. Rodney was full of life and always cheered me up every time I heard him on the microphone.

He was known as 'Bertie Bert' and he really worked hard maintaining and energising those around him. I take my hat off to his hard work in producing excellent videos and the audio he would add to our online community.

My username 'Belching Pigs' is in reference to one of his favourite phrases which he would often use instead of swearing. I can't help but remember the video he would play of pigs belching and oinking.

I would also like to send my condolences to his family and many friends that are affected by Bertie's death.

Bertie's legacy will be kept alive and I for one will dearly miss him.

Thank you Bertie for your massive contribution in making our group successful; many users will miss you and your character.

Rest in peace my friend.

First of all: condolences and respect to his family.
But he was also admired, esteemed and loved by hundreds of people around the social internet world; there were those like myself, who never actually met him, yet over the years regarded him as a friend.
We can hardly believe that we will never again hear 'Bertie' say: "oo arr" in that joking self-deprecating way...or to never again hear him being: "chimped in his prime"...or never again to smile at any other of his mannerisms and eccentricities...
Goodbye, friend.

Well another one bites the dust, Rodney was known to me as Bertie Bert... He was a very nice chap who was very knowledgeable in many areas and he loved to help other people open their eyes on subjects which although you may not think they affect you the subjects he spoke about in fact affected each and everyone of us....

I wish to pass on my condolences to everyone but most of all his family at this time of sadness, remember the good times and the laughs you had and don't dwell on the past I don't think he would have wanted that...

But most of all I want to say thank you Bertie for all you showed me and I shall now carry on.... I enjoyed our quick cooking sketches in the online community and hope you can now rest in peace.... Bless You x

Like Chimper, I also am deeply saddened to hear of the loss of someone who, who although I never met personally, was a great friend on social networking for many years and who helped me personally and our cause on too many times to mention.

Known on the net as Bertie, Rodney was always caring, compassionate and a peacemaker and I can hear his voice now as I type.

You often read about a person who has passed on, that "the world will be a poorer and sadder place" without them - In Rodney's case this is so true.

Goodbye old friend, I shall never bake another loaf of bread without thinking of you . Thank you.

I'm both saddened and shocked to hear of Rodney's passing at such a young age. Rodney enjoyed life to the full and was passionate about so many things; he worked tirelessly to try and make our country a better place to live in and will never be forgotten by the hundreds of people who knew him in the online community under his moniker of 'Bertie bert'.

Bertie was a 'leader' and gave inspiration to so many people with his vast knowledge in many areas, including law, health and electronics. The videos he made over the years have been watched by hundreds of thousands of people now and his skills will be sorely missed.

Bert possessed the great British trait of being an 'eccentric' which is what many of us loved about him; he would talk for hours about food preparation and gardening which were two of his passions and those who knew him well will always remember him for 'canning bacon' amongst many other things.

R.I.P. Rodney/Bertie and thank you for your input to our community over the years.
