MANAGER Darren Manley has promised to abandon a switch in tactics following Ilminster’s surprising 5-0 defeat at Stockwood Green in the Errea County league on Saturday.

Stockwood Green, who began the day propping up the table, were two goals up in the first 11 minutes and never looked back.

The home side were three to the good by half time and a fourth goal early in the second period spelt the end of the contest.

The Blues problems increased just after the hour mark when Richard Crabb received two yellow cards for late tackles in a three minute spell.

And it wasn’t long before Stockwood Green completed found the net for the fifth time.

Manley said: “Richard was a bit unlucky. They were both yellows but his shirt was being held for about five or six seconds before the first one so it shouldn’t have come to that.

“Brad Miles also got a punch on the chin which only earned the player a yellow card. But having said that it was a bad day.

“For the second week running the opposition worked harder than we did and that just isn’t good enough.

“But I have to take my share of the blame for changing the formation and being too ambitious.

“We need to go back to basics, to the way we have been playing, and make ourselves hard to beat. We’ll be working hard on that in training.”

This Saturday the Blues visit Clutton without Ashley Locke who is suspended for three matches while Chris Nezianya remains a doubt.
