TOM Abell continued his run of fine form when Somerset Seconds proved too strong for Gloucestershire who they beat at Taunton Vale this week.

Put in to bat first, the visitors found themselves 15-3 in the eighth over - all three falling to Josh Davey.

They recovered to reach 76 when Davey struck twice more to go into lunch with figures of 5-20.



 In the afternoon Gloucestershire had moved to 151-6 when Academy youngster Ben Green joined the attack and took 3-18 off 6.4 overs to wrap the innings as the visitors were all out for 182.



Davey ended with 5-42 from 14 overs, while there was a wicket each for Jamie Overton and Callum Stewart.



 When Somerset replied they lost Chris Jones for eight with the score on 24 in the ninth over before new Tom Abell was joined by triallist Andrew Clarke.

The pair remained together until the close of play by which time they had moved the total to 127 with Abell unbeaten on 54 and Clarke on 42.

The whole of day two was washed out by the rain but when Somerset resumed on the final morning they took the total to 133 when Clarke was out for 45.

Davey joined Abell and the pair added 174 together to take the total to 307 before the opener was out for 127.

Davey had reached 95 not out when Somerset declared on 321-6.

Batting for a second time Gloucestershire were bowled out for 126 in 54.3 overs, Adam Dibble claiming 4-26 off 14 overs to give Somerset victory by an innings and 11 runs.
